Spring is definitely here in western Montana. Ranchers and farmers have been hard at work calving, planting crops and planning for the upcoming harvest. Migratory birds have arrived and are excitedly building nests, waking up and nibbling away at the bounty spring provides. And the rest of us have been enjoying being back on all the trails and open space we have, thanks in part to the work of Five Valleys Land Trust. Experiencing this extraordinary place we call home, I can’t help but take a moment to reflect on the great work Five Valleys has done over the past year.
In our continued commitment to protecting agricultural land, wildlife habitat and places for people to get out and enjoy nature, this past year has brought both wonderful opportunities and some unexpected challenges. I hope as you read through this report, that at the end of the day, you feel as proud and as fortunate as I do to be part of conserving western Montana.
